In 1995 my brother Alex introduced me to a friend he had just met at Bucks County Community College. Vern started coming over and bringing his bass and we would play in Alex’s bedroom. I had written a few songs, some of the first being Who Killed Julia?, Malevolence, and Mark Twain. There were some as I can recall that never amounted to anything.
It wasn’t too much longer until we managed to find a drummer, Brian. Kevin took over shortly thereafter. Then we began to play anywhere that would have us, truthfully we were just happy to be playing in front of people.
Slowly over time we started to notice that people were liking our stuff—that was weird considering that my scattered, half measured attempts at song writing.
The next thing we knew we were playing in front of hundreds of people. Those shows were always a lot of fun. In 1996, we released Backdoor Bible Shove, the only 7 inch we ever did.
Another notable aspect about band is the success that was born out of it. Vern went on to play with and tour extensively with CKY and Eastern Conference Champions. Alex went on to become a founding member of Highspire and join The Morning After Girls. Kevin found success with numerous bands like Bells Bells Bells, The Chance, Highspire, and The Asteroid #4.
I got sidetracked with drugs and since landed on my feet. I have published a novel—James Love The Destroyer—available on Amazon.
– Senator Phil
Buck County, PA mid 1990s. Forgotten time and place as far as punk rock is concerned. Senator Joe paved a way for those younger. Proved you could make a record, go on tour, and be a band just because you willed it so. Most of this was lost to time until now. Fully remastered by Steve Roche at Permanent Hearing Damage. Enjoy. - FF, 2017
